Patricia Arquette is in love, and she doesn’t care who knows it.
The 50-year-old actress was smitten on the red carpet for the premiere of her new Hulu show “The Act,” introducing her longtime boyfriend, painter Eric White, to everyone who interviewed her.
In the series, based on an infamous true story, Arquette plays Dee Dee Blanchard, who was murdered in 2015 by her daughter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, and Gypsy’s boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, following years of psychological abuse attributed to Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
“The weird thing about this [series], I think, of any character I’ve ever played, I feel like Dee Dee is in a relationship only with herself and her imagination because no matter what Gypsy’s saying to her, that’s not the reality Dee Dee is willing to see,” Arquette told Page Six at the Whitby Hotel event on Thursday, adding that as she dove deeper into the role, she found herself having more “empathy” for her character.
The Oscar-winning actress also told us how she decompresses after playing dark roles like Dee Dee.
“My boyfriend Eric helped me a lot,” she said as she held White’s hand. “And I took baths and we were shooting in Savannah [, Ga.], I’d ride my bike around town and walk around.”
Arquette and White, 50, have been together for at least five years. The couple was first photographed together in 2014 while she was promoting her film “Boyhood.”
