System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan‘s These Grey Men project to feature Serj Tankian, Avenged Sevenfold‘s M. Shadows and Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello.
In an interview with SOAD Mexico, Dolmayan says, “I’m still working on it – it’ll be released within the next four months. All the songs are finished, but we’re in the process of adding strings. And then, we’re actually starting to mix some of the songs that have already been done.”
“There’s some cool artists on it. Serj sang two songs and the Avenged Sevenfold singer M Shadows, he sang a song. I have a bunch of other friends. Tom Morello played guitar on a song. I know it’s been forever, but it will be released.”
“So, I know it’s been forever, but it will be released. I also had two kids between it, so when I had my kids, I stopped doing everything else and just concentrated on being a father. So, it takes time, but hopefully people will enjoy it.”
Recently, Tankian revealed that there have been “no further discussions” about the band recording a follow-up to its 2005 albums Mezmerize and Hypnotize.
Tankian told Rolling Stone, “We got together to rehearse, said hi and had a conversation and just carried things forward as we’ve always done. We’ve been friends and together for 25 to 30 years. That’s a long time. The difference between business and bands are people know when they’re working within a business, but when they’re in a band, it’s confusing because you’re also very close friends. There are times when you have to say, ‘Okay, this is not working on the business end but I love you.’ With bands, you rarely see that happening.”
