Ariana Grande appeared to hit out at Cardi B as she won out over her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller in the Best Rap Album category at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
As Cardi B was announced the winner, Ariana – who was not attending the event – published a series of expletive-laden tweets including one that said: "literal bull****".
Twitter users immediately began to speculate that Ariana was upset that Miller, who died in September, had not won for his album Swimming.
Ariana first tweeted ‘trash,’ followed up by ‘f***’ and then ‘bull****’ in a third tweet.
She finished it up with: ‘literal bull****,’ before deleting all the posts.
As one social media user accused her of ‘shading’ Cardi B, Ariana responded: "nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry."
Ariana was not attending the event herself, despite being nominated, after falling out with producers over which songs she could perform on the night.
While accepting the award for best rap album, Cardi – who did take to the entertain the star-studded crowd – looked overwhelmed to be honoured for her debut Invasion Of Privacy.
In a typically colourful acceptance speech, she joked her nerves were so bad "maybe I need to start smoking weed".
Cardi thanked husband Offset, who stood next to her on stage, as well as their seven-month-old daughter, Kulture.
It caps a remarkable 18 months for the Bronx-born rapper, who released her debut album in April last year.
She won rap album ahead of Swimming for the late Mac Miller, Daytona for Pusha T, Astroworld for Travis Scott and Victory Lap for Nipsey Hussle.
