Tess Daly just wore the perfect Christmas jumper… and it's only £36

The TV presenter appeared on Lorraine last week and viewers went wild for her festive style, priced at just £36 from River Island.

The sparkly camel-coloured jumper features a chic frill neck and Tess teamed the look with French Connection jeans and a pair of Boots from Dune.

Viewers couldn't get enough of the festive look, with one tweeting: "Love the jumper too the frill collar is so cute!" While another said: "Sparkle Jumper today..love it… Where can I get it please Tess?"

Sadly, the gorgeous knit is currently unavailable online, but the high-street retailer is selling an almost identical pastel pink style which reads "Oh la la".

Meghan Markle’s photo booth shot has been mysteriously deleted from the British Fashion Council’s Instagram page

After presenting on stage, an Instagram post of the Duchess of Sussex emerged online showing the 37-year-old posing in a boomerang-style photo booth shot.

Proudly cradling her bump, Meghan poses alongside her wedding dress designer, Givenchy director Clare Waight Keller, and actor Rosamund Pike.

According to Vanity Fair, the post was deleted from the British Fashion Council’s Instagram account just hours after it was posted, while similar photo booth shots of other celebrities remained visible.

For now, the shot remains on the event photographer Yvan Fabing’s Instagram account and it has been shared on countless Meghan fan accounts.

A photo of Meghan at the awards posted by her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney was also deleted.


Mulroney had shared a shot of Meghan on stage to her Instagram Story alongside the caption: “My angel. Beauty, grace and strength personified.”

It’s likely that the reason for both posts’ sudden disappearance has something to do with the strict rules surrounding the royal family’s public appearances.

Outside of official photos for events like weddings, it’s unusual for members of the royal family to pose for pictures.

Before marrying Harry, avid social media user Meghan deleted both her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Royal family members further down the pecking order, like Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, are permitted to have a public Instagram pages.

Posing in a photo booth wasn’t the only surprising thing Meghan did at the awards gala on Monday night.

Appearing on stage in a Givenchy black velvet gown, the Duchess of Sussex also wore dark coloured nail polish — a look that is said to be personally disliked by the wueen.

She also wore bracelets believed to be a subtle nod to her close bond with Prince Charles.

Meghan made her appearance to present Claire Waight Keller with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

In her speech Meghan heaped praise on the designer, telling the audience: “As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear.

“Sometimes it’s very personal, sometimes it’s emotional. But for me this connection is rooted in, really, being able to understand that it’s about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women.”

Accepting the award, Waight Keller personally thanked the Duchess of Sussex, describing her as “amazing”.

“I got to know Meghan on such a personal level,” she gushed.

“To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life… I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.”

Meghan showed off her blossoming baby bump in the figure-hugging bespoke dress – designed by Givenchy – and wore her hair slicked back in a signature bun.

But men with erectile dysfunction don't necessarily need to resort to taking little blue pills for the rest of their lives – exercise might help.

Men with erectile dysfunction can improve their sexual function with 40 minutes of aerobic exercise, four times a week, according to our latest review of the evidence.

We reviewed all international studies carried out over the past ten years where inactive men with erectile dysfunction received professional help to become physically active.

The results showed that most of the time it is possible to reduce erection problems with exercise.

What causes erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is the most common male sexual dysfunction.

It is defined as a consistent or recurring inability to get and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity – in other words, persistent problems in getting it up or keeping it up during intercourse or masturbation.

Erectile dysfunction, including weakened night and morning erections, may be an early sign of health problems and, sometimes, a symptom of early-stage atherosclerosis (stiffening and narrowing of the arteries).

We know that erection problems are more common in smokers and in men who are physically inactive or overweight.

It is also more common in men with high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. So erection problems may be the first sign of vascular disease.

About 23 per cent of inactive men and about 23-40 per cent of obese men suffer from erectile dysfunction, as do 40 per cent of men receiving treatment for high blood pressure and 75  per cent of men with cardiovascular disease.

By comparison, 18 per cent of men in the general population have, or have had, erectile dysfunction.

Hardening of the arteries

When a man becomes sexually aroused, blood flows to his penis and the increased blood in the erectile tissue results in an erection.

But in men with atherosclerosis, the penile artery walls become thick and lose their elasticity.

Three-quarters of erection problems are linked to atherosclerosis, a condition typically triggered by lifestyle factors, such as obesity, physical inactivity and smoking.

We already knew that lifestyle modifications, including physical activity, improved heart health, sexual health and erectile function.

Working out for 40 mins, four times a week for six months can improve things

We also knew that there is strong evidence that frequent physical activity significantly improves erectile function.

Our study found that physical activity of moderate to high intensity for 40 minutes, four times a week for six months resulted in an improvement or even a normalisation of the person’s erection.

After six months of physical activity, men who could not masturbate or have sex for a long time were able to resume sexual activity.

The figure below shows, on a scale of 0-30 points, the average erectile function of men in different studies before and after the intervention (exercise). In all studies, men had improved erectile function.

Take-home message

If you are physically inactive and in bad shape, it’s important to not push yourself into a fitness regime that is beyond you, otherwise, you risk injury, which could make exercising difficult and reduce your motivation to continue.

The best approach is to start with simple aerobic activity.

Walk every day, swim or cycle, and increase the pace and distance week by week. After a few weeks, you could add jogging, dancing, tennis or football into the mix. Or, if you prefer, you could join a gym.

To strengthen blood circulation – throughout the body and also the penis – exercise intensity must be moderate to high. This means that you warm up your body and produce sweat, your face turns red, your pulse increases and you become slightly breathless – breathless enough to make it difficult to have a conversation.

If your erectile dysfunction is caused by early stages of atherosclerosis, 160 minutes of physical activity weekly for six months will probably improve your ability to get an erection.

If you are overweight, the effect of the physical activity can be further increased by losing weight.

And if you smoke, the effect of physical activity becomes even stronger by quitting.

But changing your lifestyle from being physically inactive to being physically active is easier said than done, so it is best to seek professional help.

Exercise is much more enjoyable when you do it with others. So why not invite your partner or friends to join you? After all, training is healthy, but it should also be fun.

Size 24 ‘whale’ who received death threats from men online because of her weight has found love with a man HALF her size

Healthcare professional, Sierra Mead, 19, from New Mexico, US, weighs 20st 10Ibs and felt insecure about her body for years thanks to her high school peers.

At school they used to bully her by calling her names like “whale”, “hippo” and “fat”.

For years she would cover her body in shame, but gradually seeing other plus size women on social media flaunting their curves has encouraged her to do the same.

Despite receiving negative comments from strangers online telling her she “deserves to die”, in March 2017, her pictures attracted the attention of her now-boyfriend, Mason, who was star-struck by her confidence and curves.

Mason, who is 11st 11Ibs and is shirt size XL, says that he’s in love with Sierra and their spark results in an amazing sex life.



Size 24 Sierra said: “I always thought I was too fat; I felt like I was secretly being judged by people all the time. I wore baggy clothes, I always sucked in my stomach and covered myself.

“I mainly ate only salads, and always tried to prove my worth by my over-exerting myself in physical activities. I felt like a total outcast all the time.”

Sierra met Mason on an online dating site and they quickly struck up a bond.


She said: “The first time we talked I just knew he was the one and we became completely obsessed with each other from then on.

“He tells me about how beautiful he thought my pictures were and how genuine my profile was. My body confidence has benefitted our relationship; I'm not the type to ‘do it’ in the dark, or bashfully hide behind my top.

“He's not restricted from touching any part of my body, we are completely open and one with each other.

“I'm sure there might be people who stare because he's thin and I'm the complete polar opposite of that, but they sure aren't obvious about it.

“He was, and still is, such a smart, sensitive, funny, patient, talented, caring, romantic and kind man. I'm sure he would say the same about me because we are so alike.”


Mason revealed what he loves most about Sierra’s appearance and said: “I love everything about her body; she has such nice soft curves that any man would do a double take on.”

He added: “Her online profile first attracted me to Sierra; she was so bubbly, sweet and she knew what she wanted. When we started talking, we couldn't stop till this day, and just look at her, she's gorgeous.

“When you're truly in love, there is a spark that always creates amazing results when you figure out each other’s needs and different turn-ons, it gets crazy.”


Despite Sierra’s new-found body confidence, she still experiences death threats and harsh comments by trolls online, which she says has been the hardest part of her journey.

She now ignores them.

Sierra said: “People daily, sometimes several people multiple times a day tell me I deserve to die. They say they would laugh and celebrate when I ‘inevitably’ succumb to heart failure or diabetes.

“It's shocking to me how angry people can get at a fat woman on the internet and how they think it's even remotely okay to treat someone like that.

“I used to argue back with them for hours but eventually I grew out of it. I don't have to justify myself to anyone who thinks they have superiority over me because they're thinner.

“We're all still human. My advice: filter comments and the ‘block’ button are your friends. I would say, just let people live.”


Sierra argued that “fat people know they are fat”, thanks to being constantly told by family, doctors and people on the internet.

She said: “Specifically, body confidence is not promoting obesity. I hear that one religiously. Body confidence is for everyone regardless of size, colour, age, gender, height, disability, etc.

“Body image issues affect literally every single person and it can even result in eating disorders. Loving yourself is more important than you will ever know.

“So, for the people reading this I would say; get dressed up, do your hair, take some pictures, look in the mirror and just focus on what you like about yourself versus what you think needs to be changed.

“At its core, body confidence improves people’s quality of life. It never was and never will be an ‘excuse to stay fat’.”

How can you save money on your Christmas dinner?

Swap out the posh starter for a simpler alternative

You don't always have to serve the fanciest thing in the supermarket.

Put down the lobster and smoked salmon and go for a more purse-friendly salmon pâté instead.

Serve up with some Melba toast or a bit of grilled sour dough and it'll feel just as classy.

Be careful not to over order on the bird

People always make the mistake of buying a bird twice the size of the one they actually need.

Remember that by the time everyone's piled their plate with side dishes, veggies and pigs in blankets they'll only want a few slices of turkey.

If you do end up with leftovers then make sure you make the most of every bit so that the money isn't wasted.

A turkey curry or turkey sandwiches the next day can go down well and you can always make a stock or soup from the bones.

Make your own gravy

Doing things D.I.Y. is bound to save you money, especially when it's something as simple as gravy.

Once you've finished roasting your turkey, move the bird onto a board to rest.

Put the roasting pan with all the lovely fatty juices from the meat directly onto the hob.

Stir in four tablespoons of flour and continue to cook for one minute.

Add in a pint of stock and stir until you have a smooth gravy, use a wooden spoon and make sure you mix the whole surface of the pan.

Bring it all to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes, adding salt and pepper if needed.

Design your own cheese board

Splashing out on a fancy cheese board can cost a fortune, but if you want a luxury fourth course, you can definitely do it yourself.

Reduce the selection down to two or three different varieties to save on the cost.

Chuck in a pack of crackers and the whole family will be happy.

Don't buy prepacked veggies

If you want to cut costs, don't buy the temptingly convenient pre-prepared veg.

A bag of Aunt Bessie's roast potatoes basted in duck fat will set you back £2.70 for 800g.

But you can buy 2.5kg of Maris Piper potatoes (three times more) for just £1.90.

You DON'T need to weigh yourself every day over Christmas – have your treats without feeling guilty

More to point, why would you want to know that?

Every year, the media is full of advice on how to stay slim over the festive season, with experts explaining how many burpees it takes to burn off a glass of eggnog and how many minutes you'd have to jog to work off a single Ferrero Roche (it's 12 minutes!).

Does that really do anyone any good? No, not really.

A new study from the universities of Birmingham and Loughborough have just found that weighing yourself over Christmas can stop us from putting on weight over the festive season.

It found that when given weightloss tips and told to weigh themselves over Christmas, people lost more weight.

And doubtless, that's true.

If you were being told to look at how much weighed every single day, you might be less tempted to enjoy an extra truffle after dinner or have many – if any – roast potatoes.

But what kind of Christmas would that be?

There is something to be said for watching what you eat in the run-up to the holidays.

On Christmas Day alone, the average person eats around 6,000 calories – three times the recommended daily allowance.

Do that on the regular throughout December and you could head for trouble.

In general, adults put on 1kg a year – much of which is accumulated towards the end of the year which is then not lost in the new year. We simply start again on this journey towards gorging and dieting.

And that's possibly the least healthy way to go about things.

"The scales don't dictate how healthy you are – how can one number accurately reflect how you feel every day?" asks leading Harley Street nutritionist, Rhiannon Lambert.

"That little number shouldn't define who you are. It can ruin an entire day and people live their lives like that – that's what encourages dangerous relationships.

"Health should be defined how well you sleep, your mood, energy, the nourishing things you feed yourself."

Rhiannon says that the whole idea of telling people how much exercise they need to do to burn off certain Christmas foods is incredibly unhealthy in itself.

"Telling people that they have to exercise for 21 minutes if they want to eat a mince pie will make them panic that they have to run a marathon everytime they have a treat.

"It's so inaccurate. Every day we have different energy requirements – no one number will ever be reflective of that."

While balance and weight maintenance might be important in general (accumulate too much belly fat, for example, and you run the risk of diabetes, heart problems and more), Christmas is a very finite moment in time that shouldn't be wasted worrying.

"It's the time of the year where the components of enjoyment and social interaction have been lost," Rhiannon says.

"It's not normal. If you have moderation – you enjoy certain things when you want to, you're less likely to binge on them later."

"The bottom line really is that the number on the scales will never be accurate. Thousands of people have a daily routine of looking at their scales and for many, it's problematic."

And, of course, the whole idea of running off a certain food or jumping for Yorkshire puds is totally false anyway.

We all have a baseline of calories depending on our height, age and activity level – which for most people will be well over 1,000kcals a day. Your brain alone needs around 600kcals to function, and again, that amount changes according to how much you think and do.

It's way too simple to say you need to do X number of pushups to eat Y number of sweets. And it's totally unrealistic to get people to do this over Christmas – the one time of the year we should be relaxing and enjoying spending time with our loved ones.

Food plays such a huge role. Enjoy it for what it is, but just don't go overboard. You don't have to put yourself into a cheese coma just because it's December.

Remember too that the study we mentioned earlier also included giving people healthy lifestyle tips, which Rhiannon says are sensible and balanced.

Healthy tips for eating over Christmas

According to the experts from the University of Birmingham, these were the tips given to the successful slimmers over the festive season:

1. Try to eat roughly the same time each day, whether this is two or five times a day.

2. Chose reduced fat foods (e.g. dairy foods, spreads, salad dressings) where you can. Use high fat food sparingly (e.g. butter and oils) if at all.

3. Walk 10,000 steps each day (equivalent to 60-90 minutes moderate activity).

4. If you snack, choose a healthy option such as fresh fruit or low calorie yogurts instead of chocolate or crisps.

5. Be careful about food claims on labels. Check the fat and sugar on labels when shopping and preparing food.

6. Do not heap food on your plate, except vegetables. Think twice before having second helpings.

7. Break up your sitting time. Stand up for ten minutes of every hour.

8. Think about your drinks. Choose water or sugar free squashes. Unsweetened fruit juice contains natural sugar so limit to one glass a day (200ml). Alcohol is high in calories so limit to one unit per day for women and two for men. Try diluting drinks with water, soda or low calorie mixers.

9. Slow down. Do not eat on the go or while watching TV. Eat at a table if possible.

10. Eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day (400g in total).

Slowing down the speed at which you eat, getting at least five portions of fruit and veg a day and becoming more active are obvious tips – but they're the ones which genuinely work.

And more crucially, they are tips that you can implement over Christmas and still enjoy the day.

If you slow down and make sure that your plate is piled high with sprouts, peas, broccoli, then you might not overeat on the stuffing and pigs in blankets.

Go for a walk in between main and pudding, and that'll help with digestion as well as overall energy burn.

But for the love of everyone's sanity, let's stop talking about the calories content and exercise equivelent of our favourite Christmas foods!
